Hey! I’m Melissa.
I’m a Health Coach, a mom, and a Health Coach for moms
I’ve always been an ambitious, Type A person. As a child, I got straight A’s and was a star athlete. And as an adult - organized, fairly healthy (minus some control-freak anxiety), driven, and a dreamer.
But when I became a mom, it felt like I was losing control - and not just of my sleep or schedule.
I spent the early years of motherhood cycling through fatigue, depression, random weight gain, brain fog, acne, chronic sinus infections, bloating, mom guilt and more. My gut was telling me to “do more” and “try harder”, while doctors or the media would proclaim, “welcome to motherhood” or “this is aging!” But I refused to believe this would be my permanent reality… so I cycled through professionals, podcasts, & books just trying to figure it all out (while I took care of two littles and built a nonprofit)
If there’s anything I’ve learned from scaling this mountain, it’s this: Motherhood does not have to be the inevitable downgrade in our health that we’re often made to believe is “normal”... IF we set women up for success. We need to equip them with the proper tools, perspectives, and support they need to evolve and thrive in this chapter of their lives.
So I turned my personal journey into professional credentials, and now I help moms do just that.
I trained with the mindbodygreen health coaching program, which is an approved program under the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaches (NBHWC). The training was delivered by a faculty of doctors, wellness experts, and board-certified health coaches across diverse disciplines and perspectives, with material including foundational and evidence-based coaching concepts, 360-degree approach to wellness, and functional nutrition.
The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) has collaborated with the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) since 2016. I operate under the NBHWC’s scope of practice and code of ethics. More about the NBHWC
